    1. A detachable magazine system used to be considered too costly, too unreliable, and nearly completely useless for most serious long-range shooters.
    2. In 1999 Accuracy International introduced the Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) for the Remington 700 series of rifles.
    3. As a testament to the reliability of these new systems, elements of the US military are using the AI chassis system on its Mk13 Mod 5 sniper rifle and the US Marine Corps has been upgrading its M40 series of rifles with Badger Ordnance M5 DBM systems.
    4. An advantage to the detachable magazine shooter is the ability to carry different types of ammunition to better handle different targets.
    5. Badger Ordnance, CDI Precision, and Surgeon Rifles are just a couple of notable manufacturers of AICS magazine compatible trigger guards.
    6. The U.S. Marine Corps have been upgrading their M40 series of rifles with Badger Ordnance M5 DBM systems.
    7. Both the Mk13 Mod 5 sniper rifle and M40 rifle are currently in use in the world’s hot zones and both use the tried and true AICS magazines.
    8. An argument against using detachable box magazines is that they make the shooter shoot faster, reducing their accuracy.
    9. In today's military sniper operations, a detachable magazine system is being viewed as a distinct advantage more so than a disadvantage.
    10. Police sharpshooters have less of a need for a detachable box magazine because they will not usually encounter multiple hostile targets, or have a need for faster reload times.
    11. A bolt-action rifle is composed of a barrel, rifle scope, rings/base, stock, action, and bottom metal.
    12. The riflescope consists of the objective, the main tube, the elevation knob, the windage knob, the parallax knob, the magnification ring, and the ocular.
    13. The rings and base includes the ring caps and screws, the ring height, ring base, “recoil” lug, and the rail grabber and nut.
    14. The barrel consists of the free bore, the chamber, the throat, the rifling tube, the muzzle, and the crown.
    15. Current operations have shown that many teams are operating in larger numbers for better security and remain in positions longer, even after taking a shot.
